Welcome to CarsxGirl, perhaps one of the most unique automotive blogs to come onto the scene.
How can I make such a bold claim? Well, I have a few reasons.
For one, I’m a girl. You’ll know me as Foxie, a nickname that I’ve had for years, and has worked great as a pen-name. I’m not a new blogger really, but the automotive blogosphere is new to me. I haven’t been writing about cars for long, only a few months on my personal blog “Life as a [Girl, Miata] Racer.” I was looking for something more, though, so here you have me at CarsxGirl.
I don’t want to draw this out too much, as you can learn a lot about me on my other blog. I plan on having it to follow along with my cars in a more in-depth fashion, this place is for the rest of the automotive world that may or may not involve my own cars. I did, however, figure a few facts were in order.
About me:
-I own three cars. My daily driver is a 1997 Montego Blue Mica Mazda Miata. My husband’s is a 2001 Silverstone Honda S2000. Our latest addition is a 1990 Hot Red Nissan 240SX.
-I’m insanely into the JDM style of tuning, looking at my cars and I can’t imagine it’s hard to see why.
-I’m a 21 year old college junior, living in a less than ideal place for my car obsession. However, it gives me a chance to learn the ropes before having access to a better place. I’m also going to school for nothing car related. (Sad, really.)
-In December, 2008, I raced my Miata for the very first time in a local autocross event. Our goal for 2009 is to give a decent enough performance to hopefully win the Ladies Rookie of the Year award. So far, we’ve collected two first place trophies in the Ladies Novice class.
-My Miata has a ton of mods done to her. Because she’s daily driven, I totally don’t notice it half the time though. To me, she’s my Miata and all her “crazy” stuff is normal.
-Drag racing is okay, but not my thing. I autocross and will be participating in my first High Performance Driving Event later on in 2009. I have an S13 Silvia that I fully intend on learning how to drift well in, but the Miata is set up for track and autocross.
Alright, that should be enough about me for now. As for the blog, I hope to write an entertaining automotive blog with the unique perspective of a female tuner. I’m a girl who’s into cars and racing, and really knows a lot for being a girl. I like to think that it gives me a bit of a different view on cars & car culture than the average participant. (Who’s more often male. Not being sexist, but it’s true.)
The title, to me, can be read in two ways:
1. Cars x Girl = Me, as a multiplication problem. I am a product of being a girl in love with cars, after all.
2. Cars “by” Girl – While it sounds kind of awkward, it’s more of what I was getting at. Adding an “a” to it would be kind of odd, but someday I might. It sounds catchier without it I think, but it gets to the heart of how I write… As a genuine car girl with a passion for cars.
So please, stick around if it sounds interesting. I promise to do my best to provide the most interesting automotive content that I can… For a girl.
