We’ve found a couple of friends who like to go down and hang out every week at the local “ricer meet,” to see what shows up and to make fun of the rest. These guys are a ton of fun to hang out with, so I’m thinking I may end up going to more of these “meets” than I thought we would at first. Sure, there’s the rice… But it’s fun when you’ve got multiple people to make fun of them with. (I talked about the time before this here.)
While it isn’t the greatest sort of car meet ever, this is the sort of thing we live with… Around here, this is some of the best we get. Sad, but true, so I take what I can get because I love getting out there and talking to people about cars.
And, like I said, it’s interesting to see what shows up. (Plus gives me something to write about, bonus!) This last time we got to see a guy that we haven’t talked to in a while, which was nice. Also saw a very nicely done Subaru Legacy, and a non-riced Prelude. Rather refreshing, honestly. There was the bad stuff, but it gives me hope that it isn’t all bad out there.
It was also nice because, well, of why we really went down. After getting the “new” door on our S2000 and adding the carbon fiber mirrors, she’s back to being able to drive places alright. (Two days into July she was t-boned on the passenger side. It took just over three weeks before we got her into the body shop, finally.) She still doesn’t have a window, so we wouldn’t want to leave her anywhere really, but she does need to get out and move. We decided it would be nice to get her out of the house for a while and out moving. My husband also felt like squelching any rumors about the car being wrecked. She’s rather infamous in the area, and people like to talk about stuff. Taking her out showed she’s still around and will be fixed. (But she is getting some goodies… Hopefully more than just mirrors.)
Besides, I love having that car around. The sheer amount of carbon fiber on the car makes quite an impression on anyone the first time they see her. She’s now got carbon fiber: mirrors, hood, radiator cowl cover and ram air intake. (Most of it Password: JDM, mirrors are APR and hood is Seibon.) Doesn’t sound like a lot, but believe me… It is. (Expensive, too.) So she got quite a few looks while there… And while people asked if she’d be raced, our only reply is that we do all of our racing legally.
Since I want to work on my photography skills, I took some pictures over the course of the night. Any comments on my lack of skill is welcome, I won’t turn down any pointers! (Though I am getting a better point & shoot camera soon, and hope to get a dSLR someday…) It just doesn’t hurt to get some practice in ever… I’m a much, much better writer than photographer, I think.
The nice Legacy.
Slightly modded 350Z, belongs to a fellow autocrosser.
Clean Civic Si and an S14 Silvia, belonging to our friends.
The non-riced Prelude. Nice, huh?
And, of course, my pretty girl! (Even with her remaining dents.)
