Cars X Girl

I'm so into cars that…

February 2nd, 2010 · 18 Comments · About Me

I figured it would be fun to do a silly post like this, showing the things I do because I love my cars and want to spend all of my money on them. :)

I’m so into cars that…

  • I dye my own hair
  • I limit myself to $20 for lunches… For two weeks
  • Each of my girls has her own bank account (Miata & 240SX, S2k’s not mine to mod :P )
  • I use all of the VS free panty coupons I get so I don’t have to pay for them myself
  • My non-automotive spending is strictly monitored
  • I don’t buy new books, only used
  • I consider ramen noodles to be a yummy meal, by itself
  • All shoes are bought with “Can I drive in these?” in mind
  • I’m a bargain-hunting fiend when it comes to clothes
  • I use various ways to obtain gift cards to spend on clothes, so I don’t have to spend my checks on clothing
  • I only wear eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss
  • If I want pretty nails, I paint them myself
  • I own a grand total of one bikini
  • My phone’s screensaver is always something car-related
  • I write this blog about cars ;3
  • I’ve been accused of having my facebook be just about my cars
  • Almost all of my Flickr photos are of cars
  • I’m motivated by the thought of owning a set of $3k+ wheels
  • I know what toe, camber and caster all are
  • I currently have three car-related tattoos
  • If you gave me $1,000 to spend right now, I’d buy a Bride seat for my 240SX
  • I want to learn to drive in heels so I can own a pair of Louboutin heels…
  • I don’t want said Louboutins if I cannot drive in them
  • Instead of having a wedding, we bought our S2000 (No lie.)
  • I’ve ordered prints of my own car photos to use as art decorations in our house
  • We commissioned an artist to draw our S2000 from a picture (You’ll see what I mean on Friday… ;) )
  • Our house has minimal furniture…. Like, no dining room table
  • Every vacation involves cars and/or racing in some form

And I bet there are a ton more, but that was just the ones off the top of my head. :D

$1k that I HAD to spend would get me this pretty I've been lusting after...

So what do cars make you do that other people may consider weird or not worth it?

PS — Happy birthday Mom!!!! :)

    Thank you!!

  • KSold

Haha, the mom bit killed me, she must be so proud. :P

  • Super Terrific

I’m just glad I’ve encountered real enthusiast such as yourself through blogging. I don’t find any of the stuff you did eccentric at all. You have a passion for cars so why not? I cut back on a ton of spending to. That means less going out more studying and working :(

Going bananas when I see “cars in the wild.” Just love seeing street modified vechicles tearing it down around town. I think everyone’s got use to my weirdness. At one point in the summer where I live a lot of nice cars just pass by because I live on a main road so I just try to guess what cars passing by and take a educated guess and see if I’m right or wrong. I can’t help it. I guessed correct a few times.

With 1k I would get coilovers asap or do a brembo brake disk upgrade and pads with sway bars.

Happy birthday to your mom to then.

That whole list makes me laugh, I’m guilty of 8 things on it.

Awesome seat, that’s the exact seat I wanted or the GARDIS III.

  • Meg

I sure hope so. ;) (I know she reads so I had to, knew she’d get a kick out of it.)

  • Meg

Totally agree with the enthusiast bit — Best part is that the internet’s wherever I go, so I don’t have to lose connections like moving away from friends. Cheesy, yes, but true. :)

I am completely guilty of becoming overly excited when I see an awesome car “in the wild.” Kinda creeps people out sometimes because I get super bubbly and really excited, but most true enthusiasts kinda get a kick out of my enthusiasm. (Mostly the Porsche guys we’re buddies with, because they’re mostly older and acted a lot like I do when they were my age.)

  • Meg

Haha, there were quite a few girl exclusive things on there. It’s my defense to the girls who claim they want to be “tuner girls” but don’t have the money for it. I know they do… They just either don’t see it or can’t give up the girly habits to get it. (Hair, nails & clothes being the huge offenders.)

Not sure when I can pull off the seat, soon I sure hope. The padding in the driver’s seat is all shifted around and hurts my back if I drive for too long. Was gonna get the seat a couple of months back… But we got the SR20DET instead, so I really can’t complain much!

  • mom

Believe me, Mom is very, very proud!! :)

  • Freddy

    AWESOME LIST!!!
Not many girls can say the can live without an LV bag or Chanel glasses..lmao!

A bank account for a car? *forehead-smack* How did I never think of this??? Sharka would LOVE his own account. Though I’m sure he’d just squander the funds on easy women and expensive fuel.

And the mom part made me lol.

(until recently, our loft had a coffee table made out of race tires and plywood. DEAD race tires.)

  • eemusings

I’ve only lived in one place where we had a dining table since moving out of home (and we never used it for eating)!

  • Meg

Hehe, now you know my secret. ;) The Miata loves to use hers for autocrossing and good oil… I’m hoping to get the 240 a carbon fiber roof spoiler as a celebration of being truly owned & a running SR20DET. (Then it’s back to saving for sway bars for the Miata & the Bride seat for the 240.)

Oh, and that coffee table sounds ideal. We’ve got one spare wheel from the 240’s newest set and one of my RPF1’s has a bend in the lip, so that’s gonna need to be replaced someday here.

  • Meg

Haha, I sure do. :) But… I own three Coach bags (a clutch, a tiny one & a medium-ish one) and a BCBG Max Azria bag. But surely no four figure bag, nor any approaching four figures… Car parts are too much of a draw, and for the price of some of those bags I could have another project to tinker with. (Plenty of old Z’s in that price range! Ha.)

  • Meg

Haha, yeah, it really isn’t missed at all. If we get a coffee table, that’ll be more like a dining table than anything else. I prefer the Japanese style tables anyhow…

  • David

I love those bride seats too, they are so nice.

“All shoes are bought with “Can I drive in these?” in mind”

Haha! I love this one. xD

  • Meg

Thanks! :) And yeah, I’ve sat in a Bride before….. (And did not want to get out of the car.)

  • earl

blows my mind. completely awesome. i think we all do some crazy things for the sake of our cars.

  • Meg

Indeed, we do. :) Some are just more crazy than others, haha.
