The Last ARSCCA Autocross…

June 4th, 2010 · No Comments · Car Event, Photos

Before I get onto all the adventures of moving and Spokane and what not, I must first share the last autocross event we attended in Arkansas.

Bye-bye, ARSCCA…

It was definitely bittersweet. Many of the people who attend these autocrosses have become dear friends over the years we’ve been going there.

Many of them also encouraged me to get involved, and when I did, they cheered me on and gave me tips and help and pushed me on. I earned Rookie of the Year because I had people behind me the whole way, not because I was any good on my own.

I feel proud to have the friends there that I do, many of whom are damn good at what they do. :) For the first time, I feel like some of the people there will remain lifetime friends, just like many of the people from Myrtle Beach are very good friends.

The Day

Moving on, since I don’t like being soppy and emotional…

The day started off very lovely! It wasn’t too hot, it was absolutely wonderful for an autocross day in the middle of Arkansas in the hot season. It was fairly cloudy and breezy, and just lovely…

Until the storms rolled in.

The early hot season brings a lot of powerful storms, which often bring tornadoes. Just a fact of life there, you get used to it.

Sadly, on this particular day the racing was cut short because of some wicked storms, which made for a hasty good-bye in an effort to get home before the bad stuff hit. (I still don’t like hail. Who does?!)

But the pictures!

Despite a sudden end to the racing, I managed to get a fair number of pictures!

In fact, I kept more pictures from that day than I ever had before. I didn’t do a whole lot of panning, I just tried to take some well-lined up shots. It worked out pretty well, I think… Besides, people always love having pictures of them driving their car. :) (And I just love snapping pictures!)

Eventually I’m hoping to turn this into a business of sorts… Selling my photos to racers for a tiny price. Any suggestions as to what’s fair? I’m thinking one price for a print (where I’ll order & ship) and another if they’d like the original file itself, to keep & order as many prints as they’d like and what not… Please, help me out here! :(

Some Favorites…

Since I took a lot, I’m not going to post them all here. So you have to deal with my favoritism. ;)

Of course, they’re all up on my Flickr page if you’d like to see them all.

Alright, so I did a few panning shots... I like them!!

This was nearly my photo for the day... I just liked the composition. (And the car!)

No set of autocrossing photos is complete without at least one 911 shot.

I was excited to get shots like this of cars eating cones... I'm sure the drivers really weren't happy about it, though.

I was lucky enough to get a ride in this Miata. :) It was fun and fast and made me want race tires for mine... BAD.

And finally, the photo I ended up choosing as my "photo of the day." It was dry most of the day, then it rained and let up a bit, so a few more cars got to run... I love how the water got kicked up here. Shortly after this, the event was called off.

Meg

In 2007, Meg began learning about cars. She started racing autocross in 2009 and took the Rookie of the Year title with her '97 Miata. In 2012, she sold the Miata & a 240sx project car and began racing her S2000, while saving up for a Porsche 911. Life completely revolves around cars and she wouldn't have it any other way. CarsxGirl is her way to encourage others to get into racing (it's not horribly expensive!), to document & share her car builds, an outlet to share & improve her automotive photography skills and to show that real car girls do exist!
