Saturday at the Track, in Photos

October 11th, 2012 · No Comments · Car Event, Driving, My Cars, Photos, Porsche, Racing

Since I’m pretty lazy and would rather occupy myself with things other than messing with video, I figured I’d plan on sharing my photos first, broken down by day.

Saturday was interesting, being the first day where us newbies were mostly learning the track and trying to show our instructors that we were okay and could keep the cars under control.

The morning started off with getting our numbers and class for the weekend, a driver’s meeting and a classroom session.

For me, it takes a while to really wake up. It was a chilly morning too, but the S2000 and I were ready to go. Here she is with her numbers! ;)

When we weren’t on the track, I got to hang out with some cool friends of mine. One of them had a 996 track car out on Saturday, which went very well with the 997 GT3 who was also out to play.

Photo I snapped when the D group, the newbie group, first lined up before heading onto the track for the first time. It was my least favorite session, as there were so many cars it was hard to do anything other than learn the track layout, which I already knew. (I’m a bad impatient student, I know….)

Here’s my little track super star before our third and final session of the day, after she got a full tank of gas. I was nice and early to line up for all of my sessions, as it beat getting stuck behind someone. Yes, there was point and passing, but that didn’t always mean it happened in a timely fashion….

I also spent time off track checking out the other cars. The 993 and Z06 behind her are familiar cars to me from previous track days that I’ve come to watch and not drive, though I’m definitely hoping for more next year.

Then I found this gem in attendance. Working to own one of these myself, she was a nice inspiration out there. I’m hoping my own will visit the track next year, hopefully as support to my S2000 when I can get my husband out on the track. Anyhow, Recaro seats? Definite yum.

A more literal yum was the banquet that night, held at a local Mexican restaurant. Any time I get Spanish rice & refried beans I am one very, very happy girl! Was also pleased with the mini churros for dessert! Both cute AND delicious!

And with that, a very fun but long Saturday came to an end. Next up, photos from Sunday! (Where I spent more time socializing than on the track…… Was so wore out by Sunday afternoon I couldn’t get myself behind the wheel any more!)
