Keeping Perspective

October 18th, 2012 · 2 Comments · About Me, inspiration, Porsche, Video

While I’m in the midst of saving for my Porsche 911, I’m finding it hard at times to keep motivated.

There are a lot of sacrifices to be made to pull this off in a short amount of time. My husband is gone until January, I don’t eat out very often at all, there’s a limited amount of frivolous spending and I even work shifts at my 2nd job now and then. This is just some of what we are doing to make this 911 a reality.

It’s not always fun. And sometimes I wonder if I’ll be able to look back and just feel proud once we actually have the car….

So, anything I come across that adds to my motivation and determination and puts things into perspective for me is almost priceless at this point. Especially as I think of all the things the S2000 is going to need & that I want for her and mods for the 335xi that we’d like…..

I came across one of these gems the other day on twitter. It’s this great video in a budding series on Vimeo called “Cars I See.” This particular one is on a 1984 911 Turbo, better known as the 930.

I won’t say too much more about it, just watch it.

For me, it reminds me that getting my first 911 before I’m 25 will be a HUGE accomplishment. And, when the times start feeling bad, thinking of this video and the many other stories of people’s Porsche journeys taking several years or even decades, really makes me realize that what we’re doing is somewhat remarkable.

I cannot wait to have my Porsche 911. This is the goal, and I will not fall short.

Hey, found you via Sean Ogle’s blog. Pretty cool site. It’s not often I see a lady that interested in working on and driving sweet rides. Keep working hard for that 911, all the hard work and short-term suffering now will be worth it. Cheers!

Great inspirational video. Love the old school Porsche 911. I’m saving up for a Subaru BRZ myself, and trying not to bite the bullet and make an impulse purchase before I’m financially ready. So I understand needing to have patience before buying your ultimate dream car. All this waiting should make the goal more satisfying.
